Abstract

The National Medical Library of Cuba is presently developing an information literacy program to train its users for the use of databases, as well as for the use of strategies of searches well designed and validated by librarians. The present paper describes the contents and skills fostered by the course “Cochrane Library: Evidence Based Medicine”, whose target is that the user dominates this database, as well as the concept of Evidence Based Medicine for better decisions in medical attention. During the course, the Model Big6 is also taught as a thinking guide to solve information problems that facilitate the searching and organization of evidence-based medical information; likewise the students are trained for designing informative products like electronic bulletins where they can present their information results, and also promote healthcare information in the future
